Weird news - Buying a flat, and finding a body inside

This is truly a horrific experience. Imagine buying a house, opening it and then finding a body inside. For most people, such an experience would make them have a lot of negative thoughts about the house, with a number of house buyers would then refuse to live in such a house. And after six months of death, investigating the death would also be difficult, since even with a reduced amount of decomposition, a post-mortem would not reveal as many details given the elapsed time period. One wonders about the people who committed the murder but then were brazen enough to leave the body in a bed in a house which they then sold off; they would have known that the body would be found and eventually investigated (link to article):

The police have found a six-month-old decomposed body hidden in a box bed in a flat in Bhopal’s Bagsewania area on Sunday evening. The flat has reportedly been locked since June last year and the owners have not been seen since that time. The police is still not sure whether the recovered body is that of a man or a woman. “Everything will become clear after the post-mortem and DNA test. We are searching for the flat owners as only they will be able to reveal how the body reached here. Prima facie it appears to be a case of murder. The body had long hair, so we are suspecting it to be that of a woman,” SP South Sampat Upadhyay said. Police sources say the body had been kept on a mattress and wrapped with a cotton blanket, among other clothes inside the bed box. Even though the body appears to have been lying there for six months, it had not decomposed, instead it had become mummified.

Weird news: Killing wife and cutting into parts

Imagine the horror that some bystander feels when they see a plastic bag, maybe oozing a bit of blood, or covered with red color that looks suspiciously like blood; then the curiosity takes over and you open the plastic bag and see a body part - it could be a head or a leg or hand. The sheer horror would cause you nightmares, and you wonder how somebody could be so depraved to do something like this.
One hears of this being done by crazed multiple murderers or in the movies, or even done as part of some mob action; but that this was done by a husband who killed his wife and then cut her into multiple parts, which in turn were put into plastic bags and placed around the area for unsuspecting people to find these parts and witness horror that might give them nightmares. It also makes problems for the police staff, since they have first to identify the person who has been killed and disposed off, and then try to identify the killer. However, since in a major part of cases, it is the spouse or family member who is responsible, they found the killer as well after the conclusion of the investigation (link to article):

A murder most macabre that had terrified the residents of Rajasthan's Alwar all of last week, has finally been solved. Since Diwali last week, dismembered parts of a woman's body - burnt and put into plastic bags - were being found in different residential colonies in the city. Over four days, the police came across seven such body parts, they all had one thing in common - they had been dismembered, burnt and stuffed into bags. It all began on October 30, when in Alwar's Arya Nagar - an upper middle class neighbourhood - a bag was discovered with a woman's right foot in it. The next day, two hands in two different bags were discovered. In the seventh and the last bag, found on Wednesday, was the woman's head.

Weird news - Older boy kills younger one with a stone

In the case of adults attacking each other or one killing the other, the law is pretty clear on what action needs to be taken. The one who took the action leading to murder is prosecuted, where it can be determined whether this was done due to enmity or for some other purpose, whether it was in self-defense or in the heat of the moment, or was done with a lot of planning and then the punishment is done based on all these factors.
However, all of these make a basic premise. It is only when somebody becomes an adult, that is, he or she reaches the age of 18 that their minds are developed enough to know what they are doing. So, only an adult can take responsibility for any crimes that they may do, and hence a child cannot be punished the same way. This is incorporated into the laws of most countries, although some countries do make exceptions where the gravity of the crime and the way it is done enables making the final judgment about whether adult laws can be applied on children.
It remains tricky. What do you do when a child in school becomes violent and attacks somebody the same age as them or younger, and even kills the other person. Just a couple of years is not enough to make a difference in terms of development. So, there is an argument that just because somebody is 17 years old and commits a planned murder, they cannot be spared just because they were 17, and not a year older. On Wednesday morning the two boys reached schoo at 8.15am. Even before classes began, the duo got into a fight. "The boys reside in the same area in Karumarapa layam, and travel to school on the same bus," a senior police officer told TOI. "As the fight escalated, the boys began beating each other up. The older boy attacked the deceased with a stone on his forehead," said a police official on the case. In the impact, the 6-year-old collapsed, hitting another stone on the ground. "The fall killed him," said the official. The incident happened near the boys' toilet. Two other students had spotted the Class 6 boy leaving the toilet, police said. The juvenile in conflict with law was produced before the judicial magistrate on Wednesday evening, and was remanded to custody . "He will be sent to a juvenile home," a police official said.

Now, even though the child died in a fall, the fall happened because he was hit by the older boy and hence there is a responsibility for the crime, but under most existing laws, the older boy can be tried as a juvenile rather than be charged with murder.

Weird news - Woman kills and buries a man for attempting rape

Things get tricky when you have a case of self-defence; whether that be against attack (and this attack can be in the nature of a deadly attack, or an attack such as rape). However, whether the self-defense can lead to the death of the attacker and the subsequent legal proceedings depends on the actions of the defendants. In many cases, self-defense can lead to the acquittal of the defendants or reduced sentences, but it gets tricky when the self-defense leads to further actions designed to hide the act, or mislead the law enforcement agents.
Such acts can be get converted into criminal acts such as in this case, where a woman was apparently attacked and she fought back and inflicted deadly harm on the attacker. At this point, she would most likely have got away with either an acquittal or reduced sentences, but after this, she went ahead and hid the body and did not inform the police about what has happened - which would most probably lead to charges against her for these acts. One can sympathize with her for the self-defense, but the law does not allow her to not inform the law enforcement agencies about what has happened (link to article):

Rita told the police she hacked Krishna with an axe after he tried to rape her and her daughter in their house on April 4. “After he fell on his back, I chopped off his private parts as I thought he might survive the attack and retaliate,” she said. Krishna, however, did not survive the blows. Rita called seven women, her friends, and they buried the body in the crematorium.

Weird news - Rented house, found body in garden

Airbnb is a major player in the tourism business, creating a major new business in essentially the past few years and emerging as a threat to established hotel chains. After all, many people like to have an experience that is different from traditional hotels; and being able to look at homes of people and stay in them is a very different experience. Further, staying in a home, many of them located at choice locations, and with the option of being able to cook for your own needs rather than having to eat hotel fare or keep on looking for restaurants to ear sounds like a much better deal.
One problem with Airbnb is that you are totally dependent on the host, the good or bad experience comes from the host and Airbnb has only limited control over the experience on the ground. But nothing can compare to the experience that these people had. They went to a superb place in order to stay, have a nice family vacation, and it sounds like a lovely place with a nice garden. And what was present in the garden ? A decomposing body of a woman, having been dead for around a month; sounds like a horror story (link to article):

An Airbnb listing for a house in the French town of Palaiseau, near Paris, was quickly taken down after renters reportedly made a grim discovery in the garden: a corpse. A group of young friends had rented the home in the Paris suburb to celebrate a birthday. They said they found the body facedown in the garden and covered by branches. The corpse was "hunched in a dug-out area, her head against the ground, covered in branches and surrounded by wood stumps," police told Agence France Presse. Authorities have not identified the deceased woman, and an autopsy will be performed on Monday. The death is being investigated as a murder. French newspaper Le Parisien reported that the homeowner, identified only as "Emmanuel L.," was vacationing with his wife and five children when the renters phoned him on Saturday, saying they had discovered the body earlier that day. He told the newspaper in French that he was "dumbfounded" by the news.

Weird news - Footballer shoots the referee after a red card

Sports can get pretty impassioned; at times of major sports events there can be clashes between the supporters of the teams which can get deadly as well. During the course of a football match in Belgium between Juventus and Liverpool many years, the push led to a stampede in which around 39 people died (one of the impact was that there suspension of Liverpool from competitions).
During matches as well, there can be a great sense that the referees are biased or that in a particular action, the referee either ignored a wrong or is blind and cannot see the problems occurring. This kind of feeling can be natural, but when somebody goes overboard, feels that the sense of wrong is so high that it needs to be remedied. In this case, the player got so emotional that he went over the edge and committed murder on the referee (link to article):

An amateur footballer enraged by getting a red card in Argentina fetched a gun and fatally shot the referee on the pitch, police said Tuesday. Cesar Flores, 48, was refereeing a match between local youth teams in the central city of Cordoba when he sent off the player for a foul. The youth took a revolver from among his belongings, went back on the pitch and shot Flores several times, a police source told AFP.

Weird news - Woman turns up at her own funeral

A spouse killing the other in a fit of rage happens often enough, especially when emotions are running high. It is more of movie stuff when this happens through a professional hit, when one of the spouses has hired killers to kill the other spouse. Add the complications of living across 2 different continents and countries, with a incredible plan of sending the wife back to her native country to attend a tragedy and getting her killed there. There is a perfect alibi and very difficult to coordinate the investigation across 2 different countries.
The wife got lucky, with the killers finally deciding not to kill her and instead providing her audio evidence that her husband was trying to kill her. And she attended her own funeral and confronted her husband, and finally he was sentenced to 9 years in jail (link to article):

A Burundian woman living in Australia has told how she shocked her husband by turning up at her own funeral – after he had paid hit men to kill her. Noela Rukundo, a mother of eight, had arrived in Australia as a refugee in 2004 – the same year as the man she was to go on to marry, Balenga Kalala. In January 2015 she had returned to Burundi to attend her stepmother’s funeral. Lying in her hotel, she was dozing in the heat when Kalala called her from their home in Australia, and suggested she get some fresh air. "I didn't think anything,” she told the BBC. “I just thought that he cared about me, that he was worried about me."

Weird news - Dispute over washing machine leads to murder

Murder can sometimes happen for trivial items. In most cases, it happens when a person is already highly strung, and the latest sort of conflict pushes a person over. When there are guns involved, it can turn deadly. This happens even within families, especially when there is some kind of tension involved. It gets really problematic when there is an ongoing tension and this keeps on impacting the people involved in this kind of tension, putting them at a point where they can snap at any point of time. 

In this case, the dispute was so bad that the person actually killed his own family members, apparently over something as trivial as a dispute over a washing machine; when there is easy access to guns, the person over the top can suddenly take access to these guns and do something dramatic and tragic during the impulse (link to article):

A man shot and killed his wife and two others in his home on New Year's Eve before his son wrestled the gun away and fatally shot him in a chain of events apparently set off by a dispute over a washing machine, authorities said Friday. "It looks like it was a dispute between the dad and the son's girlfriend, probably over using the washing machine," Sheriff's Lt. John Corina told the San Gabriel Valley Tribune. "For some reason, this set the dad off." The son, 33-year-old Christopher Morey, eventually recovered the gun from his father and shot him, authorities said. Morey is being held on suspicion of murder on $1 million bail, authorities said.

Weird news - ISIS militant kills own mother

This is more of horrific news rather than weird news, but anything related to the terrorist Islamic group, ISIS has the possibility of being horrific and likely to cause a huge amount of horror in the minds of those who get information about any activity of the ISIS. Their past activities with regard to execution of anyone who does not support them, of beheading people, and so on, are scary.
But there are single activities that seem extremely strange, where you have people doing stuff that shows how badly they have been indoctrinated and how they are immune to logic. There are incidents in the world where people have been known to kill a parent / kill their parents, but it is something that is rare and always seem weird when it happens. However, to report your own mother to the headquarters of the terrorist organization, and then to follow orders by killing your own mother by shooting her shows the extent to which humanity has gone from followers of ISIS (link to article):

An Islamic State militant carried out a public "execution" of his mother because she asked him to leave the group, activists say. Ali Saqr, 21, killed his mother, Lena al-Qasem, 45, outside the post office in Raqqa, Syria, eyewitnesses said. Raqqa has served as IS' de facto capital since the group captured the city in August 2013. IS does not tolerate any dissent and imposes brutal punishments, often carried out in public.

Weird news: Man rips lover when she screams her ex's name out during sex

During sexual intercourse, it is quite natural for people to become animated and passionate. The body is full of hormones during the act, and this also has a huge emotional impact on people. When the feeling of love or attraction to somebody can drive people into high degrees of passion, including negative ones, one can only consider the emotions during the sexual act. This one is a case of passion, where the post sexual experience and the sudden dissonance caused an extreme reaction from the man.
During the act of sexual intercourse, the lady uttered not her lover's name, but her ex-husband's name. This caused such an extreme fit of anger in the man that, being in a drunk position, he could not restrain his fury and decided to attack her. In this case, he actually killed her by attacking her with objects as well as with his own hands (link to article):

Lopez, however, changed his story later, revealing that he had killed Nemeth in a drunken rage after she cried out another man's name during sex. He admitted to having attacked Nemeth, inserting foreign objects inside her, mutilating her with "various objects", and then eviscerated her with his bare hands. Lopez, then, tried to revive her by splashing water on her face. But when that did not work, he called the police at around 3.30 in the morning and gave them the fabricated story. Nemeth, whose naked body was found lying in a pool of blood by the paramedics, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Weird news: Utah mom sentenced to atleast 30 years for killing her babies

It is an accepted fact that parents are very protective of their children. As an example, it is a stated fact that in the wilderness of the North American wilderness, there is no more certain way of coming close to being killed than coming inbetween a mother bear and her cubs. The same instinct comes into humans, with the mother of the species being very protective towards her children. So, it is something that most people are not able to understand when it comes out that a mother in fact was responsible for harm coming to her children, even more problematic when the mother was responsible for killing her children, not one, not two, but 6 of them.
It is equally worrisome that the state agencies responsible for ensuring the safety of children (because there have been cases of children coming into harm even in their homes) were not able to detect or prevent the death of these innocent children. It is very hard to understand as to how a mother could kill so many of her children, soon after giving birth. The most natural conclusion that most people would draw is that there is something not right in the head of this woman. When she came to trial, she was not sentenced to death, but will serve atleast 30 years before being considered for parole (link to article):

Megan Huntsman, 40, pleaded guilty in February to six counts of felony murder. She will spend at least 30 years in prison before she is eligible for parole. "I really thought I had seen it all until this case," Judge Darold McDade said during sentencing on Monday. Utah authorities were called to a Pleasant Grove residence a year ago after Huntsman's estranged husband, Darren West, found a baby wrapped in a plastic bag in the garage. Police eventually found the bodies of seven infants. Huntsman told police she strangled or suffocated at least six babies immediately after she gave birth to them between 1996 and 2006. The seventh, she said, was stillborn.

Weird news - Hong Kong - Man kills his parents and then cooks them

Sometimes you read about real weird things and wonder as to how they can really happen. This is one such case. Killing other humans happens on a regular basis, with people doing murders for a number of reasons - these could be gang related, these could be because of strong emotions such as anger, hate, frustration, jealousy, etc. However, it gets more rare when a person kills his / her family members, especially parents; although even that is not unknown. However, things get really weird when somebody kills their parents, has no clear reason and then gets rid of their bodies in such a crazy manner. Imagine killing parents, then removing their heads and cooking their bodies and placing the cooked parts along with rice in lunchboxes. For somebody who is investigating such a crime, it would be difficult to comprehend whether they were indeed going on the right track, with such an unusual and barbaric crime (link to article):

An elderly Hong Kong couple were allegedly dismembered by their son and his friend before being salted, cooked and packed into lunchboxes "like barbecued pork", a court has heard.

The severed heads of 65-year-old Chau Wing-ki and his wife Siu Yuet-yee, 62, were found in March last year, stuffed into two refrigerators in a bloodstained apartment, days after they were reported missing.

The other remains were found in a rubbish bin, cooked and packed into lunchboxes with rice, in an attempt by the duo to hide the crime after they ran out of space in the refrigerators.

How does one even sentence such a crime ? 

Weird news - Girl cuts off father's head after he rapes her

Rape is such a brutal crime that it leaves women horrified, shakes up their emotions and their sense of security. Women can suffer severe emotional trauma over such a crime, and these feelings can be even more intense depending on other factors surrounding the crime, such as the violence of the crime, and whether the crime was committed by somebody known to the victim. And this is troublesome. In the family environment, there is a lot of trust involved, and for somebody to violate that trust and do such a crime would be very traumatic indeed.
When such a crime happened in the island of Papua New Guinea, the horror of the crime was increased due to the person who was doing such a crime; the rape was committed by the father on his daughter, which was a violation in many respects. The father is the one who is supposed to be a guardian to the children, the one who puts in a lot of effort to ensure the well being and growth of the children, and for a father to commit such a crime would be horrible indeed. In this case, after raping his daughter in the night, when he tried to do it again in the morning, she took a knife and cut his head off. The community has justified the death (link to article):

A teenage girl beheaded her father with a bush knife after he raped her at their home in Papua New Guinea, a report said Monday, with community leaders protecting her, saying the man deserved to die. The Post-Courier newspaper said the 18-year-old chopped her father’s head clean off after he repeatedly raped her last Tuesday night in their village in the poverty-stricken Pacific nation’s Western Highlands. The report cited a pastor as saying the father, in his mid-40s, had three other children and raped his daughter when they were alone in the house after the mother and the other siblings visited relatives. Pastor Lucas Kumi said the man went to his daughter’s room in the night and raped her repeatedly. “The father wanted to rape his daughter again in the morning inside the house and that was when the young girl picked up the bush knife and chopped her father’s head off,” he said.

Weird news - 10 year old boy shoots his mother dead, on trial

These are the sort of cases that both judges and juries dread to have. If you have a murder trial, where an adult has killed another person, you would not feel too much trouble in being part of such a trial, and even if it came to passing a judgment of execution in such a case, you would feel that you have gone through the proper process and done what needs to be done. However, this can get real tricky when you are dealing with a 10 year boy who is on trial for killing his own mother.
Typically, societies consider the age of 18 to be one where a person is considered to be an adult, and more important, when a person is considered of sound mind and capable of being responsible for their own actions. For somebody younger than that, and specially when somebody is like 10 years old, you would think that the child cannot be responsible for their own actions. What was more of a problem was that the 10 year old was in such anger after an argument with his mother, and equally important, had access to a gun with he was able to shoot his mother (link to news article):

An Ohio boy admitted he fatally shot his mother in the head with a rifle when he was 10 after what a relative described as an argument over chores. The boy, now 13, entered the equivalent of a guilty plea Monday in juvenile court. In January 2011, the boy went to a neighbor's house, called 911 and told the dispatcher he had shot his mother at their home in rural Holmes County, about 70 miles northeast of Columbus. "I shot my mom. I shot her with a gun," he said. At the time, his uncle said the boy and his mother had argued over carrying firewood.

Weird news - Mom phones police about son's disappearance, charged later with crime

It is always scary for a parent when they lose sight of their child or the child goes missing, especially when the child is of such a young age that he or she cannot take of themselves. A 3 year old child certainly cannot take care of themselves, and it is incumbent upon parents and guardians to take care of them, and if this does not happen and the child seems to be mis-treated, then the government steps and can take over the maintenance of the child. However, even this does not happen in some cases, after all the Government is not all knowing, with a dependence that the parents of the child will take care of their responsibility. The Government more depends on law and the fear of the law to ensure that parents take care of their responsibility, and when they find cases where a parent is responsible for a child suffering, or in tragic cases, where the parent is responsible for the death of the child.
In a recent case, the parent of a child (where the parents are separated) filed a complaint that the child was lost in a park and appeared distraught. The mother came to the police looking very distressed and got the police in action to look for the child and more people including volunteers got into the action. However, this is where things get stupid and tragic. When they were looking near the child's home, they saw a garbage truck leaving the home and followed the truck to the garbage handling facility where they found the child's body. As a result, the mother of the child was held, although there is no admission from her of guilt as yet (link to article):

A Cleveland woman has been arrested in the death of her 3-year-old son after police found what they believe is the body of the young boy at a waste-treatment plant, according to authorities. Cleveland police said Monday they're holding Camilia Terry, 20, at Cuyahoga County Jail to await charges in the death of her son, Emilliano Terry. "We come here with heavy hearts, I'm sure you understand. Today, at approximately 4 o'clock, a body of a small child matching the description of Emilliano Terry was discovered at a waste treatment plant in Oakwood Village," Cleveland Police Chief Michael McGrath said, according to ABC News affiliate WEWS-TV.

Weird news - Man cooks his wife's body for 4 days

Sometimes you run into cases where you wonder what a person is really like; how could the person do such a thing ? Was this the behavior of a sane person ? I mean, you can commit a crime in a moment of passion, but then to try to cover it up in an elaborate measure such as this guy took totally takes it out of the ordinary. For normal people, just spending time with a dead body can seem creepy, and he was this guy who did some much to get rid of a dead body and to cover up his crime. The interesting thing is that he was finally caught, going to show that more often than not, your crimes are detected and you can be caught (link to article):

A 49-year-old chef from Los Angeles faces life in prison for murder after he told police he boiled his wife's body for four days to hide the evidence, a media report said. According to the Daily Mirror, David Viens stuffed his wife's body in a 55-gallon drum of boiling water and kept it submerged with weights. In a recorded interrogation presented by prosecutors at the trial in Los Angeles, Viens was heard saying he cooked the body of his 39-year-old wife, Dawn, in 2009 until little was left but her skull.

Weird news - Man kills his daughter because she did not smile at him

Sometimes it is difficult to write about something, something so weird that you cannot even imagine how somebody could do this. A parent is somebody who is supposed to protect their children, especially when the child is unable to protect themselves. In nature, the protective nature of parents is incredible, and they say that the biggest danger is standing between a mother bear and its children, since that would make you a threat to the young bears and the bear would act to remove all such dangers. In the case of humans, children need the support of their parents for many many years, till the time that they are in their late tears, and parents put in a lot of effort to ensure that their children get a better future.
In this case, a father felt that he was not able to make a bonding with his daughter, maybe due to the fact that she was living with her grandparents for some time; and given that he had an anger and attitude bad enough that he killed her for something that was not so important, it could be that his behavior towards her was never loving; but killing your own daughter could not be forgiven (link to article):

The man threw his daughter against a wall and then stomped on her because she never smiled at him, the prosecutor told the court. The girl died of fatal injuries in March 2010, 21 days before her third birthday. She was affected with pneumonia, which the court heard had been caused by the injury to her brain. The court heard the accused was not able to form a close bond with his daughter, and became "frustrated and angry" with what he thought was the spoilt behaviour of his child.

Weird news - Father throws his son out of the window, son dies

Fathers are typically the ones who are expected to ensure that their children are safe. In history, there are literally countless cases where parents have given up their lives to save their children, or dedicated their lives to ensure that their children have a better life. So, it seems very strange to come across cases where you find parents ill-treating their children, or in this specific case, actually causing the death of the defenseless child, one who cannot protect himself and for whom everybody expects that their parents will be the one who take care of them.
In this case, the parents had 4 children, 3 daughters and 1 son (and in these areas, having 1 son and 3 daughters would mean that the son would be very well thought over and loved by his parents), and yet the son was thrown out of a window during an argument and died (link to article):

Police added the couple was married for 11 years and the boy, Hanif, was their fourth child. They had three daughters as well. "The couple was fighting on Thursday and Hafiz, in a fight of rage, picked up the boy and threw him from the balcony of their house situated in Jodhpur's Nai Sadak area," said the officer. Neighbours informed the police and rushed the injured boy to the hospital. "The boy had sustained injuries on his head and other body parts. He was admitted in the Intensive Care Unit," said the officer, adding that Hafiz was arrested on charges of attempt to murder.

Weird news - Father kills his own child for making too much noise

When you read news like this one, you wonder as to how somebody could do things like this. The bond between a parent and their children is extremely strong, where a parent could do anything to ensure the safety of the child. If somebody else says anything to the child, the parent can and in most cases, does react against such utterances by other people. Given all this, it seems impossible to believe as to how a parent could be so barbaric to their own children (link to article):

Enraged by the continuous bawling of his infant daughter, a man allegedly flung the two-month-old baby down a drain resulting in her death in West Bengal's Murshidabad district, police said on Monday.
"Mujibur Sheikh, a mason, was at his home and got irritated by the continuous crying of his baby. He asked the mother to calm the baby, but she failed. Enraged, he threw the baby into a drain which killed her instantly," said Jagannath Das, officer of Ragunathgunj police station.

Weird news - Man kills his own children after estrangement with his wife

In today's world, marriages are made easily, but can also get broken far more easily. This is a far cry from medieval times where the church refused to let divorces happen, and a bad marriage still meant an existing marriage. With the number of broken marriages increasing, there are more tensions due to children and the issues related to who gets to keep the children as part of divorce proceedings.
However nasty such divorce proceedings go, it is in the very rare case that such proceedings lead to violence, and even less so that the father actually kills his own children and that too in such a brutal manner, by knifing them to death (link to article):

A jilted man in Britain killed his daughter and son by slitting their throats to hurt his estranged wife as he was about to be evicted from their flat. Jean Francis Say, 62, murdered his eight-year-old daughter Regina and son Rolls, ten, when he had custody of them for the weekend, the Sun reported Thursday.
