Weird news - Buying a flat, and finding a body inside

This is truly a horrific experience. Imagine buying a house, opening it and then finding a body inside. For most people, such an experience would make them have a lot of negative thoughts about the house, with a number of house buyers would then refuse to live in such a house. And after six months of death, investigating the death would also be difficult, since even with a reduced amount of decomposition, a post-mortem would not reveal as many details given the elapsed time period. One wonders about the people who committed the murder but then were brazen enough to leave the body in a bed in a house which they then sold off; they would have known that the body would be found and eventually investigated (link to article):

The police have found a six-month-old decomposed body hidden in a box bed in a flat in Bhopal’s Bagsewania area on Sunday evening. The flat has reportedly been locked since June last year and the owners have not been seen since that time. The police is still not sure whether the recovered body is that of a man or a woman. “Everything will become clear after the post-mortem and DNA test. We are searching for the flat owners as only they will be able to reveal how the body reached here. Prima facie it appears to be a case of murder. The body had long hair, so we are suspecting it to be that of a woman,” SP South Sampat Upadhyay said. Police sources say the body had been kept on a mattress and wrapped with a cotton blanket, among other clothes inside the bed box. Even though the body appears to have been lying there for six months, it had not decomposed, instead it had become mummified.

Weird news - Man digs up dead bodies, and turns them into mummies

People sometimes do such strange things that they puzzle everybody around them. This gets particularly horrid when it comes to such things such as dead bodies, where there is a morbid feeling with regard to dead bodies. In addition, even when a person is dead, there are some rights attached to a person, which dictates laws that prohibit mis-handling of dead bodies. In fact, people tampering with a dead body can face severe legal issues.
So when something happens such as this person, who dug up dead bodies at cemetaries (an offence by itself), where all of these were young girls, and then kept them like dolls. This created a furore in the region, since initially these digging up of graves was considered to be the work of extremist groups, and was finally blamed on this person (link to article):

Ministry spokesman Valery Gribakin said on Monday that the suspect from the Volga River city of Nizhny Novgorod dug up the bodies at several cemeteries in the region. The man, whose identity was withheld, dressed them in clothes dug up from the graves.
Gribakin said that the suspect is a historian who has authored several books. He said the arrest followed a police probe into the desecration of graves in the region, which was initially blamed on extremist groups. Nizhny Novgorod is located about 250 miles (400 kilometers) east of Moscow.

In New York, a hearse van was towed by police even when a body was inside

Sometimes such stuff happens that can make people wonder about the timing and coincidence. A minivan was parked outside a funeral home, and a body was inside. Given that the van was used to move bodies, the windows of the van were dark so that people were not able to look inside, and police officers were not able to look inside either. Further, a placard on the windshield which marked that this vehicle was being used as hearse also fell flat, no way for the police to know that this vehicle had a body inside; and there was no driver over there also. As a result, the police towed away the minivan with the body, after all, the vehicle was parked illegally. Redden's Funeral Home director Paul DeNigris said a windshield placard had fallen flat. The van's tinted windows helped obscure the white cardboard box that held the remains.
DeNigris said he was "a wreck" after discovering the van missing in Manhattan. He rushed to the tow pound, where he discreetly explained the circumstances and got the van back. He also got body to an airport in time for a scheduled flight to Miami.

2 men cook body, being tried

A new mechanism to get rid of evidence. For a lot of murder trials, having a body is an important part of the overall evidence presented at the trial, and this is the reason why people try hard to get rid of the body - this could include tossing the body into water, burying it, burning it, or whatever. In this particular case, a person was owed $70,000 for a drug deal, and there was no intention to pay. So what better way to avoid paying and to also get out of the problem of leaving a body behind than to eat the body (link to article):

Prosecutors say two men killed a drug dealer to clear a debt, then dismembered his body and cooked the remains. Forty-seven-year-old Daniel Bradley and 48-year-old Paul Moccia pleaded not guilty Monday to murder in the death of 37-year-old Angel Antonio Ramirez.
The two were ordered held without bail. Authorities say Moccia owed Ramirez $70,000 from drug deals. They say Moccia shot Ramirez in March and Bradley helped him destroy the body.

Cannibalism is particularly repugnant to humanity, and brings about a feeling of disgust in most people when they get to know.

Husband wants his kidney back

Divorce cases can be smooth, or they can be very messy. In many divorce cases, the settlement process can be very tension filled and full of acrimony. People have emotional attachment to many items, and will fight tooth and nail for each item. However, the demand from the estranged man in this divorce case was totally out of the ordinary - he had donated his kidney to her when she needed it. After that, he found out that he was cheating on her, and now he wants his kidney back, or he wants the value of the kidney back:

GARDEN CITY, New York: A New York doctor is demanding his estranged wife pay him $US1.5 million ($2.1 million) to compensate him for the kidney he gave her while they were still on good terms. Richard Batista, 49, said he gave his kidney to Dawnell Batista in June 2001, and she filed for divorce in July 2005.
Dominic Barbara, a lawyer for Dr Batista, was quoted as saying: "The main reason the doctor is doing this is because of how he's been treated in this case." Dr Batista, a vascular surgeon for Nassau University Medical Centre, has demanded the $US1.5 million as part of the distribution of assets in the divorce. A medical expert estimated the value of the kidney for the legal team.

An interesting case, and one does not know how the judge will react in this case.
