Weird news - Breaking the car window to rescue a mannequin

Sometimes things appear funny in retrospect. After all, if you consider the current case, where the police got a report about a woman frozen inside a car, the natural move would be to get her out of the car and then get the proper medical aid. There is very little to fault the actions of the police in this regard. In normal times, it might be easy for a skilled police personnel to be able to distinguish between a crude mannequin and a person, but when you take into account an emergency situation, a life like mannequin wearing an oxygen mask, it would have been difficult to do so. And so it happened in this case where the car was broken into, and then to everyone's surprise, the mannequin was detected rather than a person who needed emergency medical care (link to article):

The Times Union of Albany reports that a caller told police there was an elderly woman "frozen to death" in a parked car. Officers rushed to the scene and found what appeared to be a woman sitting in a car's front passenger seat wearing an oxygen mask. A sergeant busted a rear window, opened the door and discovered that the woman was a realistic mannequin. The car owner arrived and said he uses the dummy for his job selling medical training aids.

Weird news - Lady falls in bin, scared another lady nearby

Strange things happen all the time in the world, but unless they happen to us, they seem very weird. It is difficult to believe how such things happen, but they do happen. Once in a while there are even cases where people get stick inside cupboards and wall closets, but the story below is pretty incredible. How often do you think that such a story can happen ? A lady approached a large bin meant to collect donations, with all noble intentions and decided to donate a few items. However, some time later she found that she was missing her bracelet and wondered whether they might have also gone to the bin, and tried to locate that bracelet. And strangely, she feel inside and things started going wrong for her. Finally she was extricated from the bin after she called for help, but not before she apparently scared a lady who was planning on doing a donation as well (link to articles):

An Oklahoma City woman donated more than clothes to a roadside bin set up for charitable hand-me-downs this week. The city’s fire department tells KFOR.com in Oklahoma City they had to extricate the would-be Good Samaritan from the metal deposit box after receiving a harried – and more-than-a-little awkward – phone call requesting assistance. "We received a call from a lady that was actually stuck in a donation bin," OKC Fire Chief Brian Stanaland told the site. The snafu ensued when the woman realized she was missing a treasured bracelet after donating several items. She returned to the bin, and somehow fell inside while looking for the bauble.

Weird news - Dog saves himself by calling the emergency number

Well, no one is going to say that the dog actually called the emergency number through the phone by intention, but it happened that way. It seems very weird when you read the news, but the actual fact is that the dog somehow got his neck entangled in the long wire of the landline telephone, and through the twisting while trying to get away from the wire, managed to press the emergency number (999) which is the emergency number of the United Kingdom.
This managed to get the emergency services to the home, but they were looking for some human who was injured or in an emergency condition, but it was a neighbor who came to the house and who managed to detect the dog in a choking condition and helped the dog get away from the wire (link to article):

The operator at the other end could only hear heavy breathing and gasping. Sensing an emergency situation, the operator alerted the police, who rushed to the empty home of driving instructor Steve Brown and daughter Lydia. The police team began searching for an aged or injured person in the house, located in South Hiendley, West Yorkshire.
It was only when a neighbour, Paul Walker, walked into the living room that George was found choking — with the phone wound tightly round his neck.

Weird news - Hot chilli contest causes hospitalization of contestants

There are always people who like to think that they can handle all sorts of situations, and then end up in trouble that other people have to handle. And we are not talking about the hikers who end up lost and have to be evacuated by rangers from some isolated site and so on. In this specific case, the situation was that a contest was arranged where it could be said that things would turn nasty.
So, consider a case where a contest was arranged for something that most people would stay away from; namely dishes in the form of curries where the amount of spice was such that it would affect most people. People who took part suffered a great deal due to the dangerous nature of the curries, with even the Red Cross people standing by unable to provide help. External emergency services were required, along with hospitalization (link to article):

Emergency services were called to the Kismot restaurant in St Leonards Street on Saturday afternoon after some competitors became "very unwell".
The competition involves people eating the "Kismot Killer" curry.
The Scottish Ambulance Service is now calling for a review into how the event is managed.

Weird news - Plane has to make an emergency landing after a man drinks poison

There are a lot of weird people, or people with tendencies that seem odd to others. However, as long as it does not affect us, we could not care less. We start getting involved when we see such problems starting to impact us. Consider the case of a plane journey where people are heading off for a 2-3 hour trip. People are normally in a hurry, and expect that they will reach their destination at the expected time, and a lot of schedules can get impacted if the plane travel does not happen on time (link to article):

A Delhi-bound SpiceJet flight made an emergency landing at Chaudhary Charan Singh airport in Lucknow on Thursday after a passenger allegedly consumed poison on board, police said.
Sumit Rajak, who consumed poison, was rushed to a private hospital after the Kolkata-Delhi SpiceJet flight made an emergency landing.
"After being alerted by the pilot about the medical emergency, arrangements were made for the emergency landing," airport director A.K. Dixit told reporters.
